Despite the toll that hurricane Harvey and Irma placed on the industry this year, according to the MDM-Baird Distribution Survey, the industry is generally upbeat about its progress to date in 2017. MDM reports: “Nearly two-thirds (65 percent) of survey respondents said business is better for their companies today than it was on Jan. 1. The overwhelming factor behind the surge is that their customers’ businesses have improved.”
This same optimism was echoed in the MAPI Foundation’s latest economic forecast, Growing Upside Potential for U.S. Manufacturing Growth. The report noted a slow, but persistent march to improved health with several encouraging signs in the U.S. including continued economic expansion and the fall in the value of the dollar.
